SOUTH BAY CROCHET

LACY SOAP SACHET

You can use this little bag as a soap sachet by inserting a small bar of soap in the bag. If lined, you can fill with potpourri and use as a sachet. These little bags make nice gift bags for small trinkets such as jewelry.

Crochet Skill level : intermediate to advanced.

Materials: Knit Cro-Sheen size 10 cotton: Approx 200 yards white . Few yards of yellow,                       approx 40 yds of pink.

Size 7 steel hook.

Size: Gauge not very important. 3 shells = 2" . 3 shell rows = 1". Bag measures flat : 5 ½ x 3"

Special Stitches: Shell stitch: (2 dc, ch 1, 2dc) in indicated stitch

Note: Work in rounds - do not turn

DIRECTIONS

With White , Ch 20

Rnd 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch making 2 sc in last ch. Working along opposite side of ch, sc in each ch ending with 2 sc in last ch. (40 sts)

Rnd 2: Sc in each st ending with a sl st in first sc. (40 sts)

Rnd 3: Ch 3,(dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in first st. *Skip 3 sts, Shell in next st. Repeat from * around ending with a sc around the beginning ch 3. (10 Shells). Note see the definition of Shell under special stitches at the top of these directions.

Rnd 4: Ch 6 *skip next shell (all 4 dcs), sc in space between 2 shells, ch 6. Repeat from * around ending with a sl st in first sc on last Rnd. (10 ch6 loops)

Rnd 5: NOTE: Hold the Ch 6 loops from previous rnd down in front of work and DO NOT WORK THROUGH THESE ch loops-Just let them "dangle" in front. You will be working in the shells from 2 rnds back.

Sl st across the dcs to first ch 1 space (in the middle of the first shell). Ch 3, (dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in ch1 space of shell. (Shell in ch1 space of next shell ) around ending with a sl st around the first ch 3. (10 Shells).

Rnd 6 : NOTE: Hold the ch 6 loops worked 2 rows back next to the top of the shells. Sl st across the dcs to first ch 1 space on previous rnd (the middle of the first shell). Ch 3, Catching the ch 6 loop ( by inserting hook under the Ch 6 loop and under the Ch 1 space of the shell),(dc,ch 1, 2 dc) in ch1 space of shell. (Shell in ch1 space of next shell and under ch6 loop) around ending with a sc around the first ch 3. (10 Shells).

Rnd 7-18: Repeat rnds 4 through 6 ending with rnd 6.

Rnd 19 : Ch 4, skip 2 dc, dc in ch 1 space between the shells, (ch 1, skip 2 dc, dc in space between the two shells, ch 1, dc in ch 1 space) around - ending with a ch 1, sl st in 3rd ch of first ch4. (20 ch 1 spaces). Note this is the row where you will weave in the draw string.

Rnd 20 : Sl st in 1st ch1 space. Ch 3,(2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in same space. Sc in next ch1 space. *(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch 1 space, sc in next space. Repeat from * around ending with a sl st around the beginning ch 3. (10 large Shells and 10 scs).

Rnd 21-22: Sl st in next 2 dc . Sl st in ch 1 space (bet shells). Ch 3,(2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in same space. Skip 3 dc (of the shell) and dc in next st. *(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch 1 space of shell. Skip 3 dc (of the shell), dc in next st. Repeat from * around ending with a sl st around the beginning ch 3. (10 large Shells and 10 dc).

Finish off and weave in ends.

Draw String

Row 1: With pink , ch 130. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch. Weave in ends. Weave Draw string back and forth between the double crochets on Round 19 of the sachet. Tie in a bow

Flowers (Make 2)

Rnd 1: With yellow, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc). Finish off yellow.

Rnd 2: With pink, 2 sc in BACK loop of each sc. (12 sc).

Rnd 3: Working through both loops, *Sc in next st. 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Ending sl st in 1st sc. (18sc)

Rnd 4: Ch 2. Working in the front loop of Rnd 1. Sl st in 1st loop on rnd 1. Ch 2 , sl st in same loop. (Ch 2, sl st in next loop. Ch 2 sl st in same loop )around. Weave in ends.

Finish off pink leaving a long tail. Sew flowers to the front of the sachet - -as shown in the picture.
