Materials
Worsted Weight Yarn. Small amounts (about 1/2 Oz.)Light Blue, Dark Blue,
Green, Shaded Blues, and Brown.
F Hook
For Cherry Blossoms:
Small amount of Shaded Pink thread - size 10 (or Pink thread if you don’t
have shaded pink)
7 hook
Gauge: First 2 rounds of square = 2". 8 dc = 2"
Finished Size: 7" Square
SQUARE
With Light Blue and F hook: Ch 5. Sl St in first ch.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, Work 11 dc in ring (12 dc) Note: the ch 3 always counts as first dc.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, In same st., work 1 dc, ch 2, 2dc. *Dc in next 2 sts. For corner, (2dc,ch 2, 2dc) in next st. Repeat from * ending with dc in last 2 sts. Sl st in beginning ch 3. (24 dc).
Rnd 3-5. Ch 3. Dc in each dc working (2 dc, ch 2, 2dc) in ea ch 2 space for each of the four corners. Finish off Light Blue. (40 dc) (56 dc) (72 dc)
Rnd 6: Attach Shaded Blue in any corner st. Ch 3, In same space., work 1 dc, ch 2, 2dc. *Dc in each dc making (2dc,ch 2, 2dc) in each corner space. Repeat from * ending with sl st in top of first ch3. Finish off Shaded Blues.
Rnd 7: Attach Dark Blue with a sc in any st. Sc in each st making 3 sc in each corner space.
UPPER TREE
With Green and F hook: Leaving 2 " end, Ch 5. Sl St in first ch.
Rnd 1: Repeat Rnd 1 of Square
Rnd 2: Ch 3. Dc in same st. 2 dc in each remaining st. Sl St in beg ch. (24 sts)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, (sc, hdc) in same st, 2dc in each of next 2 sts., (hdc,sc) in next st.,*(Sc,hdc) in next st. 2dc in each of next 2 sts., (hdc,sc) in next st. . Repeat from * ending sl st in beginning sc. (6 tree bumps)
Finish off green leaving a 14" tail to sew tree to square. Weave beginning 2 " end through round 1 pulling firmly to close center hole.
TREE TRUNK
With Brown and F hook: Ch 7
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch . Ch 1, turn. (6 sc)
Row 2-3: Sc in each st. (6 sc). Ch 1, turn
Row 4: Dec 1 sc, sc in ea sc until last 2 sts. Dec 1 sc over last 2 sts (4 sc). Ch 1, turn
Row 5-6: Sc in each st. (4 sc). Ch 1, turn
Row7: Sc in each st. Cut a long tail for sewing
CHERRY BLOSSOMS (Make 9)
With 7 hook and shaded pink thread:
Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hk. (Ch 3, sl st in same ch as first sl st) 4 times. Leave a long thread for sewing. Weave in beginning thread. (5 petals on each flower)
Sew to tree as shown in picture.
FINISHING
Sew Tree Trunk to square placing trunk over Rnds 2 thru 5 on the square. Sew Upper Tree to square overlapping the upper tree slightly over the Tree Trunk.
